The 24th Canberra Tour will be held on Fri 27th, Sat 28th & Sun 29th April 2007.  All races will start and finish at the new Stromlo Forest Park, Uriarra Road, Weston Creek. (http://www.stromloforestpark.com.au/)

Stromlo Park

Masters Men and Women

  • Masters men and women are able to race in all grades.  Additional prize money will be provided to the leading Masters men & women in grades B to E. 
  • A leaders jersey will be provided to the highest placed Master in men & women grades B to E at the end of the Tour.
  • C grade women introduced this year. 

Teams Comp for all Grades – A teams competition will be introduced into all grades.  So encourage your mates to come along.  Teams by grade of up to 6 riders with the best 3 riders times added for the team time.  Once you and your team have entered the Canberra Tour send you teams entry list by email to petergough@netspace.net.au

U19 Men and Women Rollout - for both U19 men and women the rollout in the ACT is 7.930 metres, this is required for all races.

Spare Vehicle – If your support crew would like a closer look at the tour why not be a spares vehicle for your grade.  We are after three vehicles per grade.

Race Program

Day 1 Friday 27th April – Time Trial, Stromlo Forest Park:

  • Men’s A Grade 15 klm time trial starting at 13.00 (turn at U3);
  • Women’s A/U19W – 15klm time trial starting at approx 14.00 (turn at U3);
  • U19 Men – 22 klm time trial starting at approx 14.30 (turn at U4).

Course Details – start on the Stromlo criterium circuit and proceed out to Uriarra Rd (U1) turn left and continue along Uriarra Rd, turn at U3 or U4 and return to Stromlo Forest Park to finish on the other side of the criterium circuit.

Day 2 Saturday – 28th April – Road Race, Stromlo Forest Park

  • Racing will start from 9.00 am.  

Registration from 7.30 am and no late entries after 8.00 am.

Saturday Morning - start on Stromlo Forest Park criterium circuit and proceed to Uriarra Rd (neutralised U1), turn left at Uriarra Road, continue towards and descend into Uriarra Crossing (U5), after crossing turn left and head up the climb for KOM/QOM (M1).  Continue to Uriarra Homestead (U6) and turn left into Brindabella Road, descend Mt McDonald, turn left at the intersection onto Cotter Road (C4), cross the single lane bridge (C3) and climb out of the Cotter for KOM/QOM (M2). Continue towards Canberra, past Eucumbene Drive (C2), turn left at Cotter/Uriarra Rd (C1) intersection before heading to Stromlo Forest Park.

  • Women B, C & Men E on completion of lap, riders turn left into Stromlo Forest Park, complete a circuit of the criterium course to the FINISH line and chute.
  • Men’s A, B, C, D & Women A / U19W grades continue past Stromlo Forest Park for a 2nd lap of circuit.  On completion of lap 2, riders turn left into Stromlo Forest Park, complete a circuit of the criterium course to the FINISH line and chute.
  • U19M continue past Stromlo Forest Park for a 2nd and 3rd lap of circuit.  On completion of lap 3, riders turn left into Stromlo Forest Park, complete a circuit of the criterium course to the FINISH line and chute.

Saturday Afternoon - start on Stromlo Forest Park criterium circuit and proceed to Uriarra Rd (neutralised U1), turn right at Uriarra Road, proceed to Cotter Road, turn right into Cotter Road (C1), follow Cotter Road, descend into Cotter and cross the single lane bridge (C3) to Brindabella Rd junction. Turn right into Brindabella Rd (C4) and climb Mt McDonald KOM/QOM (M4), continue to Uriarra Homestead.  At Uriarra Homestead all grades turn right towards Uriarra Crossing, descend to the crossing and turn right at the bottom.  After crossing continue along Uriarra Rd and climb to KOM/QOM (M3) before heading to Stromlo Forest Park.

  • Women A / U19W, B, Men D & E on completion of lap, riders turn right into Stromlo Forest Park, complete a circuit of the criterium course to the FINISH line and chute.
  • Men’s A, B, & C continue past Stromlo Forest Park for a 2nd lap of circuit.  On completion of lap 2, riders turn right into Stromlo Forest Park, complete a circuit of the criterium course to the FINISH line and chute.

Day 3 Sunday –29th April – Road Race, Stromlo Forest Park

    • A single stage for all grades, starting at Stromlo Forest Park,
    • Racing will start from 9.00 am. 
    • A new course for all grades, racing will be based on the Cotter / Tidbinbilla/ Tharwa/ Honeysuckle Creek.

(Men E, Wom B & C turn).  Riders continue along Paddys River Rd and climb Pierces Creek Hill (M8) out past Tidbinbilla, Corin, Pt Hut intersection (Wom A / U19W & U19M Turn), a short climb to Lookout Hill and into Tharwa (Men’s C turn).  Men’s A & B will turn right at Tharwa and continue to Honeysuckle Ck intersection before returning, at Corin Rd A grade will turn left and climb to the Recreation Reserve KOM/QOM (M9) on descending Corin riders will turn left and return to Brindabella Rd Intersection, turn left and climb Mt McDonald KOM/QOM (M4) and continue to Uriarra Homestead.  At Uriarra Homestead turn right towards Uriarra Crossing, descend to the crossing and continue along Uriarra Rd and climb to KOM/QOM (M3) before heading to Stromlo Forest Park.

    Men’s E & Women’s B, will turn left at Uriarra Homestead and continue along Brindabella Rd before turning before Blundell’s Flat Reserve.  The return to Uriarra Homestead will include KOM / QOM (M7).
