Training Rides

There are a range of other training rides in Canberra on weekday mornings and at the weekend:

    Meet as follows:

    • Northside: TBA
    • Southside: 3 days per week, 6 a.m.: South Side bunch: from the Bike Shed, Phillip. At the intersection of Hindmarsh and Ball St

      Friday Bunch: Bikely Map
Saturday morning, 7a.m EST (Winter), 6.30am EDST (Summer): 'Bakery Ride': from Bike Shed, Phillip. Fast; for experienced riders. Bikely Map
Due to the popularity of the Bakery Bunch it will be continued throughout the winter on NON Club racing days. Therefore if there is no racing scheduled in the ACT, the bunch will proceed. If racing is scheduled then races commence at 09.00am.
    • Track training, Narrabundah Velodrome (November March) Located at the end of Kayeema St off Goyder St Narahundah:
      Sunday 2 - 4pm Novices
      Sunday 4 - 7pm Everyone Else

    • Sunday and Public Holiday morning, 8 a.m.: Sunday bunch: Scrivener Dam carpark. Long/hard, with options of turning off early. During summer a bunch will be meeting at 7am at Scrivener dam for a range of different rides.

    Junior rides meet:

    • Wednesday 6 am Junior training bunch (under 15 upwards) carpark London Circuit, Civic across from Rydges Lakeside Hotel

It is a requirement of national road rules that helmets are worn when riding a bike. It is dark for many early morning rides (at the beginning during some of autumn and spring and throughout during most of winter). The club recommends that proper lights be used. Apart from selfpreservation, lights are also a legal requirement.

Training can be dangerous at times and you do so at your own risk. These rides are open to all and are not exclusive to Canberra Cycling Club members. The Canberra Cycling Club does not organise these rides and hence takes no responsibility for the ride.

It is recommended that riders read the notes on bunch etiquette.
