Event Details - Pointscore 12 - CCC and VCC Road Championships - Uriarra Homestead

The Uriarra course is one of the most popular in the ACT. Both ACT cycling clubs will hold their Championships together in what is anticipated to be some great racing.

Riders start at Uriarra Homestead and proceed towards Condor Creek before turning. Riders then return past the homestead and on to Uriarra Crossing (turning just before the descent into the crossing), where they return with the finish at Uriarra Homestead. Total distance per lap is approximately 25 km. Riders will complete a set number of laps.

There will be a presentation of medals for each category at the completion of racing.

Details:

• Racing will commence at 9am on Saturday, 16 October 2010.
• Registration will open at 8.15am and close 15 minutes prior to the race start.
• Entry is $10 (to cover medals, please bring correct change if possible) and $15 dollars if you don’t have a permanent Race Number and RFID Tag. To arrange an permanent number and RFID tag please email Jason Parkes at jpparkes@three.com.au
• For safety, riders must have a current Cycling Australia licence. Day and general licences can be bought at the time of registration, for details and prices see here. To allow time for processing licences, please arrive early.

The course is the same as the one used for the last couple of Championships (except run in reverse direction) and is well worth a go.

Please find attached the results for the 2010 Club Champs held today out at Uriarra Homestead. 41 Competitors from both Clubs turned up to race in cold and very windy conditions.

I can attest to it being windy. (So can the Club Tent that hit me in the face as it went flying into the air).

The course was slightly shorter than advertised but with the weather conditions still made it a challenge for all competitors.

Congratulations to Michael Tolhurst for his comfortable win in A grade, followed by Al Sieper who placed second in a closely contested sprint finish to nudge out Matt Rizzuto for third.

The Linden brothers who have become regulars at the local Club road races both had wins with Matthew taking out the B grade finish and his brother Chris getting his first win in D grade.

There were no women who showed up to race in Women’s A and B grade and we had one sole rider both in Women’s C and Juniors. Congratulations to Amy and Johannes for showing up to compete.
