From the CCC Presidents Desk

Hi CCC Members
I hope you are enjoying the warmer weather and dodging the storms.
Now that we are into December it is time to renew your membership for 2015. Experience has shown that there can be delays getting the new licences sent out in the New Year due to the high volume, and most probably due to the fact that everyone goes to the Tour Down Under, so it’s critical that anyone looking to race in January get that renewal done now.  The recent insurance case here in the ACT is also a good reason to keep that membership current!
We are now well into the summer track and summer season with good numbers showing up on both Tuesday andWednesday nights. This also means that our road series for 2014 has finished after a successful year.
The club ran 17 events during the year and these would not have happened without the tireless work of our Race Secretary Chris Short and Vice President (& Equipment Officer) Peter Gough. I would like to say a big thank you to them, and the team of volunteers who gave up their own chance to race to help run the events each week – THANK YOU.
We are now planning next year’s road calendar and would like your help in doing this.  Please take a moment to complete this anonymous survey so we can be sure we are planning racing that appeals to all – https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VQJFDKR. This survey will be open for 7 days so please don’t leave it too long.

The Masquerade Ball was held recently and was a big success.  I’d like to thank Megan O’Neill Johnston for once again organising this big night out and Liz Fitch for not only assisting Megan but also taking on the daunting role of being MC for the night. It was unfortunate that the behaviour of a few people on the night spoiled the experience somewhat for the event organisers and left CCC out of favour with the National Press Club, but for the majority it was a great night out and a good chance to review the year that was.
Arguably the biggest event on the CCC calendar, the Carts Christmas Crits, is only a few weeks away.  Brumby’s Bakery have come on board as a title sponsor and thrown in some cash and prizes for all categories.  They will also be supplying the usual Christmas puddings for the placegetters. There will be a focus on the younger riders this year with a participation event at 5pm allowing new riders to come and have a go and also a balance bike race in the track centre during the evening.  This will be limited to Under 4’s only!  Keep an eye on the Crits page for more information. So even if you don’t race the Crits, why not bring out a picnic dinner and come and watch some great racing.
Enjoy the Festive season.
