From the CCC Presidents Desk

It has been a very busy month for the Canberra Cycling Club with members in action at a number of races across the country, a development program starting, and a popular new junior series getting underway.

Racing Success
It has been hard to keep track of some of the recent success in September. Our juniors won the Club Cup Award at the inaugural Telstra Sydney Tour, Matt Rice scored a Silver and Bronze at the Junior National Champ and the Suzuki Brumby’s girls have been getting on the podium at pretty much every event they turn up at.

This weekend just gone saw the NSW Masters State Champs being held in Griffith were CCC were well represented.

Corin Classic – a great race and FREE COFFEE!
At the local level, the Corin Classic was held on Saturday with great racing across all grades. It was great to see a high calibre A grade field with Brendan Johnston taking the win from a bunch of 5 that contested the sprint finish.

I met up with the new owner of the Corin Forest Recreation Area and he is really keen to get involved with the cycling community so for the next 2 weeks he is offering FREE COFFEE to all cyclists who stop in.

Lots of new juniors
The new Junior Series has been a great success with almost 70 new kids coming out to try racing for the first time. The series is due to wrap up on Sunday but given the success, we have decided to keep it running through until December. A big thank you to the Tiffen & Co Cycling Team for their support of this series.
There is also a lot happening between now and December:

The Crits Start!
The 2014/2015 Season gets underway on October 22nd. We are lucky to have Raine & Horne Commercial Canberra on board again as the series sponsor.

I am still looking for someone to assist with the running of the 2014/2015 Series. If you can commit to being at SFP each Wednesday from 4:30 through until racing finishes please get in contact.

A reminder to send your teams into me by October 10th please to ensure you start scoring points from Round 1.

Keep an eye on the Crits page on the website for updates.

The Masquerade Ball is on
Tickets are now on sale for the CCC Spring Ball. This fantastic event is a great chance to get together with your friends in a social environment. Tickets can be purchased here.

Track Racing starts
Track racing will commence on Tuesday evenings from early October on the refurbished Narabundah velodrome. Keep an eye on the track page for further details.

Membership can be renewed!
From early October, you will be able to renew your Club Membership which will take you through until the end of 2015.

The easiest way to do this is online, but it can be done using a paper form at the Crits. This method does incur an additional $5 charge and can take longer to process.

Happy cycling!
