Race Report:
With a soggy 48mm of rain recorded in 24hrs, riders were reluctant to leave the comfort of their warm homes
There was a brief period where the skies cleared (in Tuggeranong) and all seemed like it would go to plan. Mother nature had other ideas…. With a wet start, the ACT Champs saw a turnout of 38 riders
Em Viotto, the solo female entrant who was “keen for some training” rolled out with the Elite Mens. Dropping a chain up the first climb, it would be a tough day out. Nonetheless, there was Gold waiting at the end
Elite Mens was split in the first lap. Barker, Williams and Wilson did what they could to go with the leaders but the end saw Rizzo and Hill in a sprint finish. Rizzo taking the glory. Booth almost held on to them, taking 1st in U23
It was barely a lap into the four, when M1/2/3 had enough of the mayhem and let the Elite Men do their thing and disappear into the distance. From there the main Masters bunch was caught by a smaller group of Masters, which made for some close action towards the finishing lap. A sprint finish saw Gordo nab Bridge on the line and Trent taking 3rd
M4/5/6 rolled away in a gentlemen like way until the big-man Byatt was keen to “get my interval training done for the day” and rode away to finish four minutes ahead of the pack
