With stiff competition from the Mont24hr and interstate Sunday racing, 55 riders still made it out for some fun times
A grade was a small turnout with a few of the stronger B graders moved up to ensure good racing, thanks for coming up! It was very orderly with everyone doing their fair share at the front. With a sizeable B grade in hot pursuit, things heated up on the second lap. A few small attacks went nowhere but the last climb over blue range sorted the field for a very fast downhill finish. Ed Hall went waayyy early and pulled up short. The race finished with a four abreast sprint on the line with less than a wheel between all four riders
B grade saw a very large turnout, with many A grade B graders lining up for the sheepstation. In true B grade style, the first 100 meters started off very gentlemanly, until seasoned racer Tom arranged the bunch to paceline up and down the false flat, which was reminiscent of a handicap race to chase down A grade, which almost succeeded. Halfway up the last climb, the pace picked up with young jack putting in an attack which looked like the winning move and dropped half the bunch however Tom, Michael, Scott and a few others were quick to evaluate this move and jumped on the wheel. Heading down the hill to the finish with 4 kms to go, 7 people were pinning it which looked more like a drag race, as all tactics were out the window. Scott managed to somehow find a boost button to drag a 60km/hr+ bunch to the finish line with Michael Brice on second wheel. Brice managed to secure the sprint for the win
C grade stepped up the pace in this race – running the fastest average speed on this course in the last 3 years. With 20 starters, it was on from the gun – with all rolling through down to the top of the crossing. From then on, much of the fast tempo was set by Michael Carr and Sean Ifland , with Sam Cunninghame, Dom Vigar and Tom Chester also taking good turns throughout the rest of the race. In the end, 9 riders contested the sprint with Dom Vigar taking it over Tom Chester and Sean Ifland
