ACT Road Race Championships: South of Tharwa

Location: This course uses Naas road between Smiths Road and Apollo Road.

Timing: Course set up will commence at 8:00am, with racing to commence at 9.00am. Racing is expected to conclude at approx. 12.00pm and pack up completed by 12.30pm.

Race overview: The course will start and finish on Naas road outside Tharwa (3 kms from Tharwa Shops) near the model aircraft paddock at the Smiths Rd intersection. The far turn will be just before Apollo Road. One lap is approx 18 kms and riders will do a set number of laps, between 2 and 6 depending on their grade.

Car Parking: Competitors will park at Tharwa Village or at the National Park headquarters.

On a warm morning that got windier as the sun advanced 77 competitors turned out for the ACT Road Race championships.

As always, thanks to the volunteers without whom the racing wouldn’t have happened: Peter Gough, Stu Jones, Michael Carr – as well as 2 helpers from ADCC who did a great job on timing (apologies – I didn’t catch your names). And thanks to ADCC for providing food and drinks after the event.
