Location: This course uses the roads between Uriarra Crossing, Condor Creek and the end of the bitumen on Brindabella Road.

Timing: Course set up will commence at 9.00am with racing to commence at 10.00am. Racing is expected to conclude at approx. 12.00pm and pack up completed by 12.30pm.

Start/Finish:

  • MA, WA, MB, MC to race 78km course
  • WB, WC, MD, ME to race 54km course

Starting at the Uriarra Homestead all riders will head north towards the Uriarra Crossing. For MA, WA, MB, MC the course will consist of :

  • two laps of: Homestead -> Uriarra Crossing (turn around) -> Condor Creek (turn around) -> Homestead
  • third lap: Homestead -> Uriarra Crossing (turn around) -> end of tarmac (turn around) -> Homestead finish

For WB, WC, MD, ME the course will consist of:

  • first lap: Homestead -> Uriarra Crossing (turn around) -> Condor Creek (turn around) -> Homestead
  • second lap: Homestead -> Uriarra Crossing (turn around) -> end of tarmac (turn around) -> Homestead finish

Car Parking: Competitors will park at Uriarra Homestead.

A bluebird day, following a freezing morning, saw 71 riders roll out to contest the Iron Mike Road Race on Saturday from Uriarra Station to a background of snow along the entire range.


A,B, and C/WA grade did a course of 78 km, with 2 laps via Uriarra Crossing and Condor Creek, and a third to the end of the tar. Smaller fields allowed Mens’ D and E, along with Womens’ B and C to combine, and the ensuing process of natural selection saw each grade separate along the course of 1 lap of Uriarra-Condor Creek, and the second to the end of the tar.
A grade was strung out by a move by Jeremy Ross on the third lap, allowing a 1-2-3 podium to the Tiffin trio of Matthew Rizutto, Jeremy Ross and Mick Tolhurst.
B grade stayed together for a bunch sprint which saw Blake Hore edge out Charles Nicoll and Rowan McMurray.
C grade had the biggest bunch of the day,  and Paul Smith finished comfortably clear of Christophe Barbaret and Dale Brearley.
Edward Hilly finished well clear of D grade, surely an unwise move in the handicapper’s bunch, and was followed by Edward Hood from James Steen.
All finishers in E grade , as well as WA,B and C ended up in the places, while the juniors had a quick gallop to Uriarra turn and back, led home by Cameron Rogers, followed by Abigail Adera, Sarah Pettet, and Audrey Nelson.
