Are you a junior rider looking to further develop your core cycling skills or learn new ones?
Then, here is the perfect opportunity, a skills development session specifically for junior riders conducted by Argonaut Cycle Coaching
Session information
Continuing on with the monthly Masterclass sessions, the December session will be one just for junior riders and will focus on skills development. This will be a great session for all junior riders from U13 upwards. The session is designed to introduce and develop the core cycling skills for riders at the U15 and U17 level. The session is suitable for riders in the U13’s all the way up to second year U17 riders – although any U19 rider looking to brush up on their skills may also be interested.
The skills covered in this session will serve as the foundation for good riding habits and skills as you transition through the junior ranks. Skills covered will include:
- Bike Handling
- Cornering technique
- Bunch riding skills, including an introduction to good pace line skills
- Braking techniques
- Road awareness skills
- Riding technique, e.g. pedaling and out of the saddle technique.
- When: Sunday 15th December 2013.
- Time: 2:00pm and finishing at 4:00pm.
- Location: Stromlo Forest Park Criterium Circuit
Coaching for this session will be provided by Jason Mahoney of Argonaut Cycle Coaching and Christian Beitzel, the current ACT NJTS coach. Both are NCAS qualified road and track coaches.
Depending on the success of this session it may be the first of several held through the summer specifically for junior riders. This first session will cover a broad range of skills but as there are so many to learn it will also serve as a platform for riders to continue practising before moving on to more advanced skills.
The session is open to all CA affiliated club members in junior categories from U13, U15 and U17. U19 riders wanting to refresh their skills are also welcome.
