Racing and Riding is Coming Back

As most of you are aware the VCC CCC combined clubs planning group have been working hard over the last couple of years to strengthen the road season with more racing.  While smoke and Covid have done their hardest to destroy this work we have not been discouraged.

To this end we have been working with AusCycling ACT and the ACT government to manage the changes to the regulations that affact the road approval process to deliver the calendar as best we can.

The good news is that with the expectation that the current restrictions will be easing on the 29th of October we intend to get back into the thick of it right away.

To kick it off we are planning to run the ACT Championships for the Individual Time Trail and Road Race on the weekend of October 30-31.

But it wont stop there, in addition to the Summer Criterium Season starting on the 3rd November we are planning the following races to see out the 2021 Road Season:

  • BentSpoke Gravel Champs (Course TBC) 7 November
  • ACT Hill Climb Championship (Cotter to Mt Stromlo) 14 November
  • Graded Scratch (Lookout Hill to Tidbinbilla) 20 November
  • Honeysuckle Hammer 28 November

We will of course need the usual range of volunteers and support from all the members to make this happen.

The club is also looking to kick start our Monday Social rides and put on a number of Club Runs over the summer. The club runs are social rides deisgned to give everyone a chance to enjoy the fellowship of the club whilst getting in a ride to somewhere new.  These rides will generally be 80-100km in length and ridden at a endurance pace with lots of opportunity to regroup and will include at least one coffee/cake stop somewhere in the middle.

Would love to hear if anyone has a suggestion of routes that they would like to do.  Just email [email protected].

We are also working on the calendar for next year and I can promise that it will be a bumper year.
